We offer compassionate personalized care to build families
Recurrent pregnancy loss, or miscarriage, can be a heartbreaking event - both for women and their partners. Unfortunately, it's an all too common problem. As many as one in 20 women experience recurrent miscarriages.
The right treatment can help women who experience recurrent miscarriages have a successful pregnancy. The specialists at UI Health can provide that treatment. We'll also provide the compassionate care you and your partner need all the way from the initial consultation visit through pregnancy.
Meet our Fertility Specialists
Our team is nationally known for innovative techniques in miscarriage treatment. Here, the specialists who treat you are the same doctors who are leaders in research into recurrent pregnancy loss.
Dr. Sana Salihis the Director of the UI Health Recurrent pregnancy loss and IVF Programs. Dr. Salih specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and offers compassionate and proficient care to patients with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. Dr. Sana Salih is a collaborator in an NIH-funded project to study the genetic basis for miscarriage. She is an expert on diminished ovarian reserve often associated with pregnancy loss and a common cause of female infertility.
Your healthcare team also may include experts in other specialties, such as genetics, rheumatology, hematology, ultrasound, and maternal-fetal medicine. Nurses, social workers, and genetics counselors also are available to offer consultation and support during your treatment.
What You Can Expect
Your experience with our recurrent miscarriage specialists starts with a consultation visit where we'll discuss your medical history and plan a course for further evaluation. For the most thorough diagnosis, we ask that your partner also attend this initial appointment.
Depending on your needs, we may perform a range of tests, including hormonal, anatomical, and autoimmune studies. As much as possible, these procedures are performed in the office so you can return home the same day.
Once we understand the problem, we'll recommend a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs. Because our fertility specialists are among the leaders in recurrent pregnancy loss research, we are sometimes able to offer promising new therapies before they become available elsewhere.
Our involvement won't end once you become pregnant. The team will continue to work with you, closely monitoring your pregnancy with early ultrasounds. Our nurses will also be just a phone call away if you have questions or concerns during pregnancy.
Please bring copies of your medical records to your visit and fill in the pre-visit questionnaire.
